Sign in to the Google Admin console: Use your administrator account (not ending in @gmail.com).

  • Navigate to Directory: In the Admin console, go to Menu > Directory > Organizational units.
  • Create a new organizational unit: Hover over the organization you want to modify and click Create new organizational unit.
  • Enter the name: In the Name of organizational unit field, enter the new group’s name. Note that the “/” character isn’t allowed in the names.
  • Add a description (optional): If you want, you can add a description in the Description field.
  • Select a parent organizational unit (optional): If you want to place the new unit under a different parent organization, click Edit under Parent organizational unit, choose the parent organization, and click Done.
  • Create the organizational unit: Click Create.
