If you want to add a device that requires a different vlan than the one in which the port is set, you must give the following commands in order:

conf t (config terminal)
configure interface x – x is the interface on which you want to change the vlan
swichport vlan acces y – y is the vlan you want to set
end – to return to the EXEC mode
write – to save the settings made.
