Normally the solution is to login via telnet and delete the open sessions that have got stuck:
This has always worked in the past. However, I have a UPS that refuses to delete the seesions via telnet – it gives an error each time. The only difference seems to be the session numbers – they are 5 digits as opposed to the normal 1 or 2 digits:
