Situatie
A blinking Power LED on a Synology NAS typically indicates a hardware or system-related issue.
Solutie
1. Check the Power Supply
Ensure the power adapter is properly connected to both the NAS and the power outlet. Try using a different power outlet or a compatible power adapter to rule out a faulty adapter.
2. Inspect the Hardware
Hard Drives: Turn off the NAS and remove all the hard drives. Try booting up without the drives installed. If the Power LED stops blinking, one or more drives may be faulty.
RAM and Expansion Cards: If you’ve upgraded the RAM or installed expansion cards, ensure they are seated properly. Try removing them temporarily to see if the NAS boots up.
3. Check the Status of the System
Reset Button: Press and hold the reset button on the back of the NAS for 4 seconds. If it doesn’t respond, proceed to the next step.
DSM Recovery Mode: A blinking Power LED could indicate the NAS is in recovery mode. Use Synology Assistant (a Synology-provided tool) on your computer to search for the NAS on your network. If the NAS is detected, follow the instructions to reinstall DSM (DiskStation Manager).
4. Examine the NAS Fan and Temperature
If the fan isn’t spinning or the NAS overheats, it may prevent proper booting. Make sure the fan is operational and that the device is in a cool environment.
5. Consult the User Manual or Logs
Check your Synology model’s user manual for LED indicator meanings specific to your device. Some models provide different patterns for errors. If you can access the NAS briefly, check system logs via DSM for error messages.
6. Contact Synology Support
If none of the above steps work, the issue could be with the motherboard or internal components. Contact Synology Support for assistance or consider sending the device for repair if it’s under warranty.
