Situatie
The printer is online, it shows “Ready”, but nothing prints. Jobs are stuck in queue, or disappear.
You might see:
“Printing…” stuck forever
“Error – Printing” in the queue
Solutie
Step 1: Restart Print Spooler
-
Press
Windows + R
, type:services.msc
-
Find Print Spooler
-
Right-click → Stop
-
Go to:
C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS\
-
Delete all files in this folder
-
Go back and Start the Print Spooler again
-
Step 2: Reinstall Printer Driver
-
Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners
-
Remove the printer
-
Go to Device Manager > Print queues
-
Right-click printer > Uninstall
-
-
Reboot
-
Reconnect printer and download latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website (not Windows Update!)
Step 3: Check Default Printer and Ports
-
In Printers & Scanners, make sure your printer is Set as default
-
Click the printer → Manage > Printer properties > Ports
-
Ensure correct port is selected (e.g., USB001 or TCP/IP address)
-
-
If using a network printer, test pinging it:
(Replace with your printer’s IP.)
Step 4: Try Printing from Notepad
Test printing from a basic app:
-
Open Notepad → Type something → File > Print
-
If it works here but not in Word/Chrome, the issue is with that application’s settings or drivers.
Bonus Tips
-
Avoid using generic drivers. Use dedicated software (e.g., HP Smart, Epson Connect)
-
Use “Print as Image” in PDF apps as a workaround for driver errors
-
If you’re in a workgroup: ensure File and Printer Sharing is enabled in Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings.
