How to fix Second hard drive not detected in Windows 10

A Windows 10 system can support multiple hard drives. Some systems, depending on the motherboard they have, can support an internal SSD and an internal HDD. Likewise, you can connect multiple external HDDs (or SSDs) to a system. A hard drive isn’t difficult to configure; it will connect over a simple USB port, it can work with either a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port, and it’s plug & play. Windows 10 will automatically be able to detect it and install the right drivers for it. To access a hard drive, you can open File Explorer and it will be listed under This PC. You can copy and paste files to it as easily as you would to an internal drive.

Second hard drive not detected in Windows 10

A hard drive, regardless if it’s internally connected or externally connected, will be detected easily. You should hear the new hardware found sound when you connect it and there may be a few seconds of a wait while a driver for it is installed but the device will be accessible almost immediately.

Second hard drive not detected in Windows 10

If your second hard drive has not been detected in Windows 10, try the fixes below.

How to Downgrade From iOS 15 to iOS 14

If you’ve installed iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 through Apple’s developer program or the public beta now it’s been released, you may decide you want to downgrade because of usability or stability issues. Keep reading to learn how it’s done.

Apple usually only releases the public betas of ‌iOS and ‌iPadOS‌ once the developer versions are relatively stable. That said, Apple’s beta versions of its major software updates can be notoriously buggy, especially the early releases. You may find apps not working properly, poor battery life, device crashes, and features that don’t do what they’re supposed to. Fortunately, you can restore your iPhone or iPad to the previous version of iOS.

If you made an archived backup before you installed the beta, you can remove the ‌‌iOS 15‌ beta and restore the backup. If you didn’t make a backup, you can still downgrade, but you won’t be able to restore your device to its original state before you upgraded.

Also, if you’ve installed watchOS 8 on your Apple Watch, it’s important to note that you won’t be able to use it with your ‌‌iPhone‌‌ once you’ve gone back to iOS 14. And downgrading an Apple Watch to a previous version of watchOS can’t be done manually either – if you want to remove ‌‌watchOS 8‌‌, you’ll have to send your watch in to Apple.

iOS 15: How to Invite Android Users to a FaceTime Call

In iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, you can enable anyone, even if they don’t have an Apple device, to join a FaceTime call with you by creating a link to a ‌FaceTime‌ conversation that can be shared anywhere.

Using this new link facility, friends and family members who do not have an Apple account can log into a ‌FaceTime‌ call with you using a web browser opened on any non-Apple device, whether that’s a Windows PC or an Android phone. This effectively makes ‌FaceTime‌ a platform-agnostic video service, although you do need to be an iOS or Mac user to start the ‌FaceTime‌ call and send the link. Here’s how it works in ‌iOS 15‌ and ‌iPadOS 15‌.

How to convert HEIC files to JPEG on a Mac

The iPhone’s HEIC file format is better than JPEG, but it’s not always compatible, so you need to convert it. Apple uses a new HEIC photo format to compress images taken with its iPhone, and here we’ll show you both how to open HEIC files on your Mac and convert HEIC to JPEG.

Since iOS 11, Apple has used the HEIC file format for saving photos on iPhone and iPad. We explain more in our What is HEIC feature. Apple uses the HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) and HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) standards created by MPEG, and calls the file format HEIC.

HEIC comprises a number of advanced compression methods that allow photos to be created in much smaller file sizes – as much as half size – while achieving a higher image quality compared to JPEG. It should be a win-win, but, as with all file formats, it is not compatible with all devices or applications. try uploading a .heic file to an online form, and you often get short shrift.

Mac HEIC image info

HEIC can also store multiple photos in one file – ideal for the iPhone’s Live Photos and bursts. It also supports transparency, just like GIF files, and can store image edits, such as cropping and rotating so you can undo them. Basically, it’s much better than JPEG. For example, it supports 16-bit colour vs JPG’s 8-bit.

But try uploading a .heic file in some applications, and you might have some trouble. Even earlier versions of Apple’s own macOS (before 2017’s High Sierra) are not able to open HEIC files by themselves. So we need an easy of converting HEIC files on a Mac to the more common and universal JPEG/JPG format. Luckily, it’s easy to both open an HEIC file on a Mac, and convert it to JPEG.

How to measure blood oxygen level with Apple Watch

Apple Watch Series 6 can tell how much oxygen is in your blood, which could help manage COVID-19 symptoms such as low oxygen:

apple blood oxygen measure

The Apple Watch Series 6 has a sensor built in that can measure the oxygen level in the blood. This ability could have a real benefit in judging health and reacting to the first signs of conditions such as heart failure, asthma and managing Coronavirus symptoms or even identifying COVID-19. The NHS guide to staying safe while recovering from Coronavirus at home indicates that: “If you use a pulse oximeter, your blood oxygen level is 94% or 93% or continues to be lower than your usual reading where your normal oxygen saturation is below 95%” you could call NHS 111.

In addition the recommedation is that if “your blood oxygen levels are 92% of less [having retaken your reading first] you should go to A&E or call 999 within an hour of the measurement.

With these recommendations it is no surprise that people are currently searching for blood oxygen meters, and of course the Apple Watch 6 has one included. In this article we will look at how to use the Apple Watch 6 to measure your blood oxygen, how accurate it is, and when you should be concerned about a reading. The Apple Watch 6’s oxygen measuring abilities could be a good reason to purchase or borrow one if you are experiencing Coronavirus-related breathing problems.

How Apple Watch 6 measures oxygen levels:

To make oxygen measurements possible Apple has changed the lay out of sensors on the lower side of the Apple Watch with the Series 6. Now, in addition to the green and infrared LEDs, there are additional red LEDs and some additional photodiodes.

The principle of oxygen measurement is the same or similar to that of pulse measurement: the four LED clusters illuminate the skin and underlying blood vessels, the photodiodes register the light reflected back and can use algorithms to calculate how much oxygen the red blood cells are currently transporting in the body.

This calculation is based on the knowledge that the more oxygen binds to the red blood cells, the redder the blood appears. The protein responsible for oxygen binding, haemoglobin, contains iron-containing complexes that can bind to the oxygen molecules. Upon binding the colour changes from dark red to light red – this change can be picked up by the photo diodes of the Apple Watch.

An extra app is required on the Apple Watch for the measurement and monitoring of blood oxygen levels. The Blood Oxygen app guides the user through the measurement and displays the measured data. This information is also added to the health app under the new tab Blood Oxygen.
