Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below it’s best to restart your computer first. This action refreshes the operating system and remove any corrupt temporary data that could be causing the problem.

try to disable the IPv6

IPv6 is the successor to IPv4 and is seen as the better version among the two however it is still not widely supported by many networks which is why you should disable this as this might be causing the problem.

  • Hold the Windows Key and Press R. Type ncpa.cpl and Click OK.
  • Right click your network adapter and choose Properties.
  • Uncheck “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” and Click OK. This will disable the IPv6 only for this adapter

If you want to disable IPv6 for all adapters then proceed with the following steps.

  • Type regedit in the search box.
  • Click on the Registry Editor app
  • If a User Account Control dialog box appears, click Continue.
  • In the registry editor, navigate to the following registry key.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\
  • Double-click DisableComponent to change entry.
  • If DisableComponent entry is not available, you must create it. In Edit menu of registry editor, click New and then click DWORD (32-bit) value. Type DisableComponent as the name, and press Enter. Double click the newly created entry to edit.
  • Type the value 0ffffffff to disable all Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) except IPv6 loopback interface. IPv6 will be disabled on all interfaces after system reboot.

Try resetting the Winsock

This problem can be caused by a corrupted Winsock which is why you should try doing a Winsock reset.

  • In the search box, type cmd then from the list of results displayed right click on cmd and click Run as Administrator.
  • In the black command prompt window, type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
  • Restart your computer.

Restart the network adapter

  • Press the Windows Key and Press R. In the run dialog, type ncpa.cpl and Click OK.
  • Right click your Network Adapter, and choose Disable. Then right click on it again and Choose Enable.

Disable the antivirus

Sometimes the antivirus software that you are using can cause this problem.

Avast

  • Right-click on the avast! icon in the system tray. Select avast! shields control and there will be options to disable avast for 10 minutes, 1 hour, until the computer is restarted or permanently.

Bitdefender

  • Double click on the system icon for Bit Defender.
  • When the Bit Defender window appears, move the mouse arrow to the left side and click >> Virus Shield.
  • Move mouse arrow to the black check by Virus Shield is enabled and click.
  • The black works will change to red, >> Virus Shield is disabled.
  • Move mouse arrow to the top right corner and click the down arrows.
  • Bit Defender is now inactive.
  • To enable Bit Defender, do the same steps except click to enable.

Microsoft Security Essentials

  • Right-click on the MSE icon in the system tray and choose Open.
  • Click the Settings tab, then click Real Time Protection.
  • Uncheck the box next to “Turn on real time protection”.
  • Click the “Save changes” button.
  • Exit MSE when done.

ESET

  • Double click on the system tray icon to open the main application window.
  • Or via Start >> All Programs >> ESET >> ESET Smart Security.
  • Click Setup >> Antivirus and antispyware >> Temporarily disable Antivirus and antispyware protection.
  • When prompted to confirm temporarily disable select Yes.
  • Note: Protection will be automatically started after a system reboot.

McAfee

  • Navigate to the system tray on the bottom right hand corner and look for the McAfee icon.
  • Right-click it -> chose “Exit.”
  • A popup will warn that protection will now be disabled. Click on “Yes” to disable the Antivirus guard.

Use the Network Troubleshooter

Windows 10 has a useful tool that you can use to troubleshoot network related problems and this is called the Network Troubleshooter. Try running this tool to fix the problem.

  • Select the Start  button > Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
  • Run the Network troubleshooter
  • Under Change your network settings, select Network troubleshooter.
  • Follow the steps in the troubleshooter, and see if that fixes the problem.

Reset the IP configuration

  • In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt.  The Command Prompt button will appear. To the right of it, select Run as administrator > Yes.
  • At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order.
  • Type netsh winsock reset and select Enter.
  • Type netsh int ip reset and select Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /release and select Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /renew and select Enter.
  • Type ipconfig /flushdns and select Enter.

Update the network adapter driver

  • In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.
  • Expand Network adapters, and locate the network adapter for your device.
  • Select the network adapter, select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software, and then follow the instructions.
  • When the driver has finished installing restart the computer. If Windows can’t find a new driver for your network adapter then you should visit the PC manufacturer’s website and download the latest network adapter driver from there. If your PC can’t connect to the internet, you’ll need to download a driver on a different PC and save it to a USB flash drive. From the USB, you can manually install the driver on your PC. You’ll need to know the PC manufacturer and model name or number.

Try to turn off the firewall

  • In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt.  The Command Prompt button will appear. To the right of it, select Run as administrator > Yes.
  • At the command prompt, type netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off, and then select Enter.
  • Open your web browser, and visit a website you trust to see if you can connect to it.
  • To turn on all firewalls you might have installed, at the command prompt, type netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state on, and then select Enter.

Use network reset

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a network reset.

  • Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Network & Internet  > Status > Network reset.
  • On the Network reset screen, select Reset now > Yes to confirm.
  • Wait for your PC to restart
