Using Command Prompt
Step 1: Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
Step 2: Type the following command and hit the Enter key.
Force Shut Down Your PC
Try to force shutdown your PC if it troubles normal shutdown. To force the shutdown of the computer, press and hold the power button. If the PC is charging, turn off the power for five to ten minutes by disconnecting it from the electrical outlet.
Avoid attaching any transferring cables during this time. Then turn on your computer again and attempt a normal shutdown to see if the issue is resolved.
Run the Power Troubleshooter
Step 1: Press the Windows key + R and type.
msdt.exe /id PowerDiagnostic
Under Troubleshoot and help prevent computer problem dialog box. Click Next to proceed. Click the Close button after it resolves the shutdown issue.
The troubleshooter will start detecting and diagnosing the issue. In our case, it’s showing No changes or updates were necessary because my computer’s power or shut down button is working fine. But if your system has any problem, it will troubleshoot that issue.
Kill Processes to Shut Down the Computer
Step 1: Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager
Step 2: Choose a process to be killed. Right-click on that process and select ‘End task’
Step 3: Continue with all other open apps, excluding Windows Explorer.
