In order to remove the Favorites Menu from the start menu you need to follow the next steps

Hit Window+R and type gpedit.msc and hit Enter.
Then under Local computer Policy go to User Configuration, Administrative Templates , start Menu and Taskbar. Then in the right panel find Remove Favorites Menu from start Menu.
Now select Enable, click Ok and then restart your computer.
