Situatie

A tell-tale sign of blurry text is if the Windows 10 font is blurry, but the rest of the display, such as images and other parts of the user interface, appear normally. It’s usually not difficult to correct this problem. There are some troubleshooting steps you can take in Windows Settings, and if the problem persists, use a free utility called Windows 10 DPI Fix.

Simptome

Causes of Windows 10 Blurry Text

Blurry text in Windows 10 happens most often when using a large, high-resolution display, such as a 4K UHD monitor. This is because Windows is designed to scale up the text on high-res displays to make it easier to read. Some people, however, complain that the scaling technique used by Windows 10 can sometimes cause blurry text.

How to Fix Blurry Text in Windows 10

Working through potential resolutions beginning with the most likely issue is the best way to correct Windows 10 blurry text.

  1. Vary the DPI scaling in Windows Settings. If you have a high-resolution display, Windows probably set the DPI to 125% or 150% automatically. Changing that value might resolve the problem. If it’s 125%, for example, increase it to 150% and see if the text looks sharper.

  2. Turn off DPI scaling. If changing the scaling doesn’t help, turn off the scaling entirely by setting it to 100% in the Display Settings. When you set the DPI to 100%, the text should no longer be blurry. However, the text may be too small to read comfortably.

  3. Change the display scaling. If only specific programs seem to have blurry text, change the display scaling for those specific programs. Additionally, you can enter a custom scaling value to make the text large enough to read if you need to.

  4. Change the screen resolution. If you have multiple monitors connected to your computer, one or both monitors can suffer from blurry text if you set the two displays to different screen resolutions. The easiest way to solve this problem is to not mix-and-match different size monitors and ensure each is set to the same resolution.

  5. Install and run Windows 10 DPI Fix. This free, third-party utility reverts Windows 10 to use the method that older versions of Windows (such as Windows 8) used to scale, which some users have found works better for some configurations of Windows. If the other troubleshooting steps didn’t work, install Windows 10 DPI Fix, select Use Windows 8.1 DPI scaling, then select Apply.

  6. Revert to the default Windows 10 DPI scaling. Start Windows 10 DPI Fix, select Use Windows 10 default DPI scaling, then select Apply.
