How to Open a PST File in Microsoft Outlook

If you want to retrieve a single email from a backup file, importing that whole file of emails into Outlook is time-consuming overkill. Here’s how to open a PST file in Microsoft Outlook and browse the contents, no importing needed. Backing up your emails to a PST file is a good way of creating a long-term email archive and saving space in your email account. But one potential drawback is that it’s not obvious how to access an individual email in a PST file without importing the whole file.

Thankfully, Outlook lets you open a PST file without importing it, so you can browse the contents as if it is just a folder. You can read the messages, copy or move them into your account, delete, reply to, forward, create a task or meeting, and anything else you can do with traditional emails.

Cum sa faci backup la emailuri in Microsoft Outlook

Mereu este bine sa aveti o copie de siguranta a e-mailurilor dumneavoastra. Iata cum puteti face backup la e-mailuri in Microsoft Outlook:

  • Selectati ,,File’’ si de aici optiunea Import/Export din Open & Export

  • Faceti click pe “Export To A File” si mai departe dati click pe next.

  • Din fereastra urmatoare selectati “Outlook Data File” si dati next pentru a continua.

  • Puteti selecta un folder individual sau daca doriti sa faceti o copie de rezerva a tuturor emailurilor dumneavoastra, faceti click pe numele casutei de email si asigurati-va ca aveti bifat “Include Subfolders”.

  • In mod implicit fisierul dumneavoastra va fi numit “backup.pst” si va fi salvat in folderul Microsoft Outlook din Windows. Cand ati terminat dati click pe Finish. Procesul poate dura de la cateva minute la cateva ore in functie de volumul de emailuri.
