The Clipboard is the place where the copied text is temporarily stored, however there are times when the clipboard might malfunction or stop working after several instances of copying and pasting. At this point the clipboard issue can be resolved by following the next steps:

- Run Word in Safe Mode
- Right-click the Microsoft Word shortcut on the desktop, taskbar, or folder.
- From the menu, click on Properties and go to the Shortcut tab.
- There, in the Target box, add /safe at the end of the written command.
- Click the OK button, and you are done.
Repair Office – Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows 8:
On the Windows Start screen, type Control Panel.
- Click or tap Control Panel.
- Under Programs, click or tap Uninstall a program.
- Click or tap Microsoft 365, and then click or tap Change.
- Click or tap Quick Repair, and then click or tap Repair.
Disable Add-ins
- Launch Word. Go to Options > Add-ins.
- Disable all the add-ins available there.
Reinstall Office
- Go to Start Menu.
- Go to Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
- Select Office. Click Uninstall.
Check for updates
- Launch Office.
- Go to Files > Account. Click on Updates.
- See if any updates are available or not. If yes, click on Update.
Disable Remote Desktop Connection apps
Sometimes the Remote Desktop connection app can interfere with copying and pasting, as such simply closing the app could stop the issue.
Try Another keyboard
While unlikely, it is possible to consider that the keyboard might be damaged in some way, the issue could strictly be caused by the keyboard and in that case it is worth to try using a new keyboard. Cleaning the keyboard sometimes might help in this situation.
