Step 1 – Disable Startup Programs
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Go to the Startup tab
- Right-click and disable any unnecessary high-impact apps (e.g., Discord, Spotify, OneDrive if unused, etc.).
- Reboot and check speed.
Step 2 – Enable Fast Startup
- Press Win + R, type powercfg.cpl, and press Enter.
- Click „Choose what the power buttons do” on the left.
- Click „Change settings that are currently unavailable”.
- Check „Turn on fast startup”.
- Save changes and reboot.
Step 3 – Check for Windows Updates
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.
- Reboot after installation.
Step 4 – Update Drivers
- Use Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Focus on: Display adapters, Storage controllers, Network adapters
- Right-click and choose Update driver > Search automatically.

Use vendor tools like:
- Intel Driver & Support Assistant
- AMD Radeon Software
- NVIDIA GeForce Experience
Step 5 – Run Disk Cleanup
- Press Win, type Disk Cleanup, and run it as admin.
- Select C:\ drive and check: Temporary files, Delivery Optimization Files, System created Windows Error Reporting
- Click OK to delete.
Step 6 – Check for Malware
- Run Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
- Click Quick Scan or Full Scan.
Optional (I recommend it)
Use a trusted third-party scanner like Malwarebytes.
Step 7 – Adjust Virtual Memory (Paging File)
- Press Win + R, type sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
- Go to Advanced > Settings under Performance.
- Go to Advanced > Change under Virtual memory.
- Uncheck „Automatically manage…”.
- Set Custom size: 1.5 x RAM, 3 x RAM
- Click Set > OK > Reboot.
Step 8 – Disable SysMain (Superfetch)
- Press Win + R, type services.msc.
- Find SysMain, double-click it.
- Set Startup type to Disabled.
- Click Stop, then OK.
