Step 1: Install Wavemon

sudo apt update
sudo apt install wavemon

Step 2: Launch Wavemon

sudo wavemon

What you’ll See

  • Signal Level: Shows strength in dBm (closer to 0 = stronger)
  • Link Quality: Percentage of signal quality
  • Frequency: WiFi channel information
  • Access Point: Router MAC address

Reading the Results

  • -30 to -50 dBm: Excellent signal
  • -50 to -60 dBm: Good signal
  • -60 to -70 dBm: Fair signal
  • Below -70 dBm: Poor signal

Pro Tips

  • Press ‘F3’ to see nearby networks
  • Press ‘F4’ for detailed statistics
  • Press ‘q’ to quit
  • Move around to find the best signal spots
