Design and Display

The Pura series showcases Huawei’s commitment to premium aesthetics and build quality. The Pura 70 features a 6.6-inch flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, providing vibrant visuals and smooth scrolling. Its flat edges and minimalist design offer a comfortable grip and a modern look.

The Pura 70 Pro and Pro+ models elevate the experience with 6.8-inch quad-curved OLED screens, delivering immersive visuals with their curved edges. These displays support a 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, ensuring fluid performance across various tasks. The Pro models also incorporate Huawei’s second-generation Kunlun glass for enhanced durability.

Camera System

Huawei’s Pura series continues the brand’s legacy of pioneering mobile photography. The Pura 70 is equipped with a 50MP main camera, a 12.5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP macro telephoto camera, offering versatility for various shooting scenarios.

The Pura 70 Pro and Pro+ models share similar camera configurations but introduce enhancements such as variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, allowing for better control over depth of field and low-light performance.

Performance and Hardware

All models in the Pura series are powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9010 chipset. While this represents a significant achievement in Huawei’s pursuit of technological self-sufficiency, the Kirin 9010’s performance is considered mid-range compared to competitors’ flagship processors. This discrepancy may affect tasks requiring intensive processing power, such as high-end gaming or complex multitasking.

The Pura 70 Ultra offers configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and storage options reaching 1TB, providing ample space for apps, media, and files. However, it’s important to note that the Pura series lacks 5G connectivity in models sold outside Mainland China, which may be a consideration for users in regions where 5G networks are prevalent.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery performance across the Pura series is robust. The Pura 70 is equipped with a 4,900mAh battery supporting 66W wired charging. The Pro and Pro+ models feature a 5,050mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging capabilities. The Ultra model houses a 5,200mAh battery, also supporting 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, ensuring quick power replenishment.

Software and User Experience

The Pura series operates on EMUI 14.2 globally, with models in Mainland China running HarmonyOS 4.2. Due to ongoing U.S. trade restrictions, these devices do not come pre-installed with Google Mobile Services, which may impact users reliant on Google’s ecosystem. While alternative app solutions are available through Huawei’s AppGallery and other third-party sources, the absence of native Google support remains a significant consideration for potential buyers.
