If Microsoft Edge doesn’t update to the latest updates, the following steps can help with fixing the issue.

Sometimes Edge can continue to run in the background. Call the power user menu using Win+X keys together and click on “Task Manager” to open that up.
- Now, as the Task Manager opens up, head to the Processes tab.
- There, you will see the “Microsoft Edge” process and tap “End task” to kill the entire process thread.
- Relaunch Microsoft Edge.
- Wait until the Home page loads up. Then, copy-paste this in the address bar and hit Enter.

Microsoft Edge will automatically start the check for updates. It will automatically download the updates and install them. Wait for it to finish installing. Edge will show you the prompt to restart the browser. So, tap “Restart” to do the same.
- Get to the Edge business downloads page.
- There, tap “Download” to download the Edge installer according to the CPU architecture your system is using.
- Wait for the Edge installer to be downloaded then run the setup to install the latest version of Edge.
- Just run this setup file to install the latest Edge.
- You can find the Microsoft Edge Update service on the Services page. To open it, press the Win+R keys at once.
- Then, write down “services.msc“ in the Run Window and press Enter.
- After reaching the Services page, look for the “Microsoft Edge Update Service“, double click on it and make sure that the Startup Type is set to Automatic.
- Edge won’t update if the service is not running. Click on Start to resume the service, then click on Apply and OK.
- Exit Services. Now, open Edge and try to update it again.
- There on the top right corner, click the three dots and go to “Settings“.
- On the main Edge Settings page, select “Reset settings“.
- Afterwards, click on “Restore settings to their default values“.
- Edge will reset the startup page, new tab page, and search engine settings. Just click “Reset” to give your confirmation.
- Press the Windows key+X keys together.
- Click the “Installed apps” to open that.
- When you get to the complete list of apps, search for “Edge“.
- Wait to see “Microsoft Edge” in the search results. Click the three dots to the right and select “Modify“, then the Repair option.
