Your power settings can be the cause for this problem, and many reported that Windows disconnects from Wi-Fi after Sleep Mode.

If the Wi-Fi frequently disconnects on your PC, it’s possible that you’re having issues with the adapter, or you might be having issues with the signal strength. In some instances, your WiFi connection can drop when downloading, and this might be ISP or even a firewall issue, but luckily, there’s a way to fix that.

Use the Network Troubleshooter
  1. In the home screen search box, type Troubleshooting.
  2. Open Troubleshoot settings.
  3. Click on Additional troubleshooters.
  4. Click on Internet Connections to run the dedicated troubleshooter.
Uninstall the Network Card device
  1. Type Device Manager in the home screen search box and hit Enter.
  2. Expand Network Adaptor and then right-click on Network Card.
  3. Click on Uninstall and restart the computer.

Windows 10 should detect the network adapter then reinstall it. Check now if you can connect to the Internet.

Tweaking the Power options
  1. Go to Control Panel, and click on Device Manager.
  2. Right click on your installed network adapter and choose Properties from the menu.
  3. Look for Power Management tab. Uncheck Allow computer to turn off this device to save power and click on OK to save changes.
  4. Press the Windows button aka the Windows Orb.
  5. Type Control Panel.
  6. Select Power Options under Control Panel.
  7. Click on Change Plan Settings next to your selected plan.
  8. Click on Change Advanced Power Settings in Edit Plan Settings.
  9. Scroll down to Wireless Adapter Settings and expand it, and then expand Power Saving Mode.
  10. Click on the On battery and Plugged in drop downs and select Maximum Performance on both.
Disable Roaming Sensitivity
  1. Type control panel in the search box and choose Control Panel from the list of results.
  2. Here, locate and click on Network and Sharing Center.
  3. The Network and Sharing Center window will now open. In the left pane, click on Change adapter settings.
  4. A List of network connections will now appear. Right-click your wireless connection and choose Properties from the menu.
  5. When the Properties window opens, click on Configure.
  6. Navigate to Advanced tab and select Roaming Sensitivity. Set it to Disabled and click on OK and Apply to save changes.

After doing that your PC won’t automatically try to connect to other available wireless networks and the problem with WiFi should be completely resolved. Roaming Sensitivity is a feature that allows your device to switch to other wireless networks that offer better signal. It’s a useful option, but if it’s causing trouble, better disable it.

Flush your DNS or use Google DNS

Flush your DNS

  1. Open Command Prompt
  2. Run this command and hit Enter:ipconfig /flushdns
  3. Close Command Prompt.
  4. Open the Settings App.
  5. Go to Network and Internet.
  6. Click the Network Reset button.

Use Google DNS

  1. Type control panel in the search box and choose Control Panel from the list of results.
  2. Here, locate and click on Network and Sharing Center.
  3. The Network and Sharing Center window will now open. In the left pane, click on Change adapter settings.
  4. A List of network connections will now appear. Right-click your wireless connection and choose Properties from the menu.
  5. When the Properties window opens, click on Configure.
  6. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on Properties.
  7. When the Properties window opens, select Use the following DNS server addresses. Set Preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and Alternate DNS server to 8.8.4.4. Click on OK to save changes.
