How to see the cycle of laptop battery

Configurare noua (How To)

Situatie

If by “cycle of laptop battery” you mean the battery cycle count (how many full charge-discharge cycles the battery has gone through), here’s how to check it:

Solutie

Windows

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  2. Run:

    powercfg /batteryreport
  3. Windows will generate a report, usually at:

    C:\Users\YourUsername\battery-report.html
  4. Open the HTML file in your browser.
  5. Look for Battery capacity history and Cycle count (if your laptop reports it).

macOS

  1. Hold Option and click the Apple menu.
  2. Select System Information.
  3. Under Hardware, click Power.
  4. Find Cycle Count under the battery information.

Linux

Open a terminal and run:

upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0

or

cat /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/cycle_count

(depending on your distribution and hardware support).

What the cycle count means

  • 0–300 cycles: Battery is generally in very good condition
  • 300–800 cycles: Normal wear
  • 800+ cycles: Capacity may be noticeably reduced
  • Many modern laptop batteries are designed for 500–1000+ cycles before dropping to around 80% of original capacity.
