This feature allows you to automatically assign special roles to your YouTube members on your Discord server, much like Twitch integration.
Important Prerequisite: To integrate your YouTube channel directly with your Discord server and leverage features like member-only roles, your YouTube channel must be eligible for and have YouTube Channel Memberships enabled. If your channel doesn’t have this feature, the integration won’t work.

Step 1: Connect Your YouTube Account to Your Discord User Profile (if you haven’t already)
First, your personal YouTube account needs to be linked to your Discord user profile. This is crucial for Discord to recognize you as the owner of the YouTube channel you want to integrate.
- Open your Discord app.
- Click on the User Settings cogwheel (⚙️) next to your username in the bottom left corner.
- Go to “Connections” in the left-hand menu.
- Click on the YouTube icon.
- You’ll be redirected to Google’s authorization page. Select the Google account associated with your YouTube channel and authorize the connection.
Step 2: Integrate Your YouTube Channel with Your Discord Server
Once your personal YouTube account is connected to your Discord user profile and your YouTube channel has Memberships enabled:
- Go to your Discord server.
- Click on your server’s name in the upper-left corner to open the dropdown menu.
- Select “Server Settings”
- In the left-hand menu, under the “Integrations” section, click on “YouTube”
- On the YouTube Integration page, you should see an option to “Connect” your YouTube channel (if it’s not already linked). Follow the prompts to complete the connection.
- Once successfully connected, Discord will automatically:
- Create YouTube Member roles. Similar to Twitch, Discord will generate roles corresponding to your YouTube membership tiers (e.g., a general “YouTube Member” role, and potentially “Tier 1 Member,” “Tier 2 Member,” etc., if you have multiple tiers). These roles are automatically managed by the integration; you cannot manually assign or remove members from them.
- Sync your YouTube membership list. Any user who is a current member of your YouTube channel (and has also connected their YouTube account to their Discord user profile) will automatically be assigned the corresponding member role(s) in your Discord server.
- Manage Integration Settings:
- On the YouTube integration page in your Server Settings, you can:
- Sync: Manually initiate a sync of your YouTube member list.
- Grace Period: Set a grace period for members whose membership might have just expired. This determines how long they retain the member role on Discord before being removed.
- Remove Role: Choose what happens when a member loses their role (e.g., just remove the role, or kick them from the server).

Step 3: Configure YouTube Member Roles and Channels
After the integration is active, you can customize the automatically created roles and set up exclusive channels for your YouTube members:
- Edit Roles:
- Go to Server Settings > Roles.
- You’ll see the new YouTube Member roles. You can rename these roles, change their colors, and adjust their permissions like any other role. For instance, you might rename “YouTube Member” to “Channel Supporter” or “Exclusive Crew.”
- Create Member-Only Channels:
- Create a new text or voice channel.
- When setting up the channel permissions, make it a private channel.
- Specifically allow your YouTube Member role(s) to view and send messages in that channel, while denying the
@everyonerole. This is how you create exclusive spaces for your YouTube supporters.
