How to factory reset Cisco 4300 Series router – Easy

If you have a Cisco router and you forgot it’s password, the steps to factory reset is as follows.

Open the router and let it do the Initial hardware check up
When the device starts to boot up press the CTRL+Break key
Your router will enter in Rommcon mode, from here you enter the following command

confreg 0x2142 - tells the router to bypass the configuration in NVRAM so that you can perform password recovery

> enable

# write erase

# confreg 0x2102

# end

# write

You are done, now you can start configuring your router!
