Reinstall the Xbox Application

The first thing you should do when you see the File System Error -2147163893 is to reinstall the Xbox application. In many cases, this simple act has helped users fix their problems:

1. Open the Start menu in your taskbar by clicking on the Windows icon, and then click on Settings. Press Windows + I on your keyboard as a shortcut.
2. Click on Apps & features from the available options. This will take you to a page with all the installed apps on your device.
3. Scroll down until you see the Xbox application in the list. Click on the three dots on the right side of the window, then choose Advanced options from the context menu.
4. Locate the Reset section. Here, click on the Repair button to start fixing your Xbox application. The File System Error -2147163893 will be fixed by Windows 11 using the repair tool.

Run the System File Checker (SFC Scan & DISM)

1. Open the Start menu.
2. Search for Command Prompt and open it as an administrator.
3. Type the below command and hit Enter:sfc /scanow
4. Your PC will start scanning for corrupt system.
5. After the process completes, reboot your PC.
6. Again open command prompt.
7. Type the below command and hit Enter:chkdsk C: /f /r /x
8. Once the process completes, enter the below command and press Enter:DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
9. You will see “The operation completed successfully” message.
10. Reboot your PC.

Run the CHKDSK Command

1. pen the search bar in your taskbar by clicking on the magnifying glass icon. You can also bring it up with the Windows + S keyboard shortcut.
2. Type Command Prompt in the search box. When you see it in the results, right-click on it and choose Run as Administrator.
3. When prompted by the User Account Control (UAC), click Yes to allow the app to launch with administrative permissions.
4. Type in the following command and press Enter to execute it: chkdsk C: /r
5. Wait for the scan to complete.

Use the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

1. Open the Search bar in your taskbar by clicking on the magnifying glass icon. You can also bring it up with the Windows + S keyboard shortcut.
2. Type Control Panel in the search box. When you see it in the results, click on it to launch the application.
3. Search for Troubleshoot using the input field on the top right, and then click on the Troubleshooting header from the search results.
4. Click on the View all link in the left-side pane. This is going to take you to a new page with every available troubleshooter displayed.
5. Scroll down and locate the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter. Click on it once, and then wait for the troubleshooter to launch in a different window.
6. Click Next to begin the problem analysis. If the troubleshooter is able to diagnose any problem, it will then attempt to fix the issue. You can see a full report at the end of the troubleshooting process.

Reset or Refresh Your Windows 10/11 Installation

If none of the above methods worked for you, your last resort would be reset or reinstall Windows 10/11. This will, depending on your preferences, either delete all your personal files or retain them while still fixing the problem.

1. Click on the Start menu and choose Settings. You can alternatively use the Windows + I keyboard shortcut as well.
2. Type “reset” into the search bar, and then click on Reset this PC from the search results. You can also manually navigate here by going to Update & Security > Recovery.
3. Click on the Get started button under the Reset this PC heading and wait for Windows to start the reset process.
4. Choose one of the two options:
   • Select Keep my files if you want to keep personal files on your computer, but want to remove all apps and settings.
   • Select Remove everything if you want to wipe all data from your system including all your personal files.
5. Wait for Windows to complete the process.
