Windows 11 install error code 0x80070 usually appears for users trying to install Windows 11 using the installation assistant.

It happens during the initial phase of the installation of the Windows 11 OS. For some, this Windows 11 error code 0x80070 appears when they try to update their PC. You may come across an error warning pop up saying “Something went wrong.” This error code will prevent you from installing Windows 11 on your PC or installing new updates.

Scan for corrupt files
  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Search for Command Prompt and open it as an administrator.
  3. Type the below command and hit Enter: sfc /scanow
  4. Your PC will start scanning for corrupt system.
  5. After the process completes, reboot your PC.
  6. Again open command prompt.
  7. Type the below command and hit Enter:chkdsk C: /f /r /x
  8. Once the process completes, enter the below command and press Enter:DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  9. You will see “The operation completed successfully” message.
  10. Reboot your PC.
Reinstall Windows 11 Installation Media
  1. Visit Microsoft official website to download the Windows 11 installation media.
  2. Click the Download Now button.
  3. Double-click to open the installation media and follow the onscreen instructions to install it on your PC.
  4. Open the Windows 11 installation media and check if this fixes the issue or not.
Scan PC for virus
  1. Click on the upward arrow button on the bottom-right taskbar.
  2. Click on Windows Security
  3. Select Virus & threat protection.
  4. Hit the Quick Scan button and let Windows Security scan your PC for virus and malware.
  5. You can also select the Scan options button.
 Disable Windows Firewall and Security
  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Select Windows Defender Firewall.
  3. From the left-side select Turn Windows Defender Firewall on and off.
  4. Check the box next to Turn off Windows Defender Firewall on the Domain and Public network settings.
  5. Press OK to close the tab.
 Turn on User Account Control
  1. Open the Start menu from the Taskbar below.
  2. Search for Control Panel and open it.
  3. Click on User Accounts.
  4. Select Change User Account Control settings.
  5. Drag the slider downwards till it says Never notify me.
  6. Click OK to save changes.
  7. Now run the Windows 11 Installation Assistant and check if this fixes the issue or not.
Clear temporary folder
  1. Press Win + R buttons to open the Run command.
  2. Type %temp% and hit Enter.
  3. Press Ctrl + A to select all files.
  4. Press the Delete button your keyboard or right-click and select Delete.
Reset Windows
  1. Press Win + I buttons to open Windows Settings.
  2. Scroll down and select Recovery.
  3. Under Recovery options, press the Reset PC button.
  4. Choose the type of factory reset your wish to perform.
  5. Choose the option how you would like to reinstall Windows.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Hit the Reset button.
