Discord has recently introduced a new feature called Enhanced Role Styles that allows you to make your roles visually stand out with gradient or holographic designs. This goes beyond the traditional solid color roles.
Here’s how to add Enhanced Role Styles for your server and community:
What are Enhanced Role Styles?
- Visually Appealing: Instead of just a solid color, you can choose a gradient (two-color fade) or a holographic effect for role names in chat and member lists.
- Stand Out: This makes important roles like “Admin,” “Moderator” or special “VIP” roles more noticeable.
- Server Boost Perk: Like Server Tags, Enhanced Role Styles are an additional perk that needs to be unlocked with Server Boosts.
Solutie
How to Unlock Enhanced Role Styles for Your Server (as a Server Owner/Admin):
- Server Boosts are Required: To unlock this perk, your server needs 3 Server Boosts specifically allocated for it. These boosts are separate from the boosts required for server levels (Level 1, 2, 3). So, you might need a total of 6 boosts if you want both Enhanced Role Styles and Server Tags (3 for each).
- Access Server Settings:
- Click on your server’s name in the upper-left corner of the Discord app.
- Select “Server Settings”
- Navigate to Server Boosts:
- In the Server Settings menu on the left, click on “Server Boosts”. This section shows you how many boosts your server has and allows you to manage perks.
- Enable the Perk:
- Look for the “Enhanced Role Styles” perk.
- If you have enough available boosts (at least 3 not currently allocated to server levels or Server Tags), you’ll see an option to “Enable Perk”
- Click on it. A window will appear where you can confirm and configure the perk.
How to Apply Enhanced Role Styles to Specific Roles:
Once you’ve unlocked the Enhanced Role Styles perk for your server, you can apply them to any role:
- Go to Server Settings > Roles:
- Click on your server’s name in the upper-left corner.
- Select “Server Settings”
- Go to the “Roles” tab in the left-hand menu.
- Edit a Role:
- Hover over the role you want to style and click the pencil icon (✏️) to edit it.
- Choose a Role Style:
- In the role editing menu, you’ll now see a “Role Styles” section.
- You’ll have options like:
- Solid: The traditional single color.
- Gradient: Allows you to pick two colors that will blend into each other. You can choose from presets or pick custom colors.
- Holographic: Applies a shimmering, iridescent effect. This usually comes with a pre-set color combination.
- Configure the Style (if Gradient):
- If you select “Gradient,” you’ll be able to choose your starting and ending colors.
- Save Changes:
- Once you’ve selected your desired style and colors, click “Save Changes”
Important Considerations:
- Boosts are Ongoing: Enhanced Role Styles require the 3 allocated Server Boosts to remain active. If your server loses these boosts, the roles will revert to their solid color style.
- Desktop/Browser Only for Editing: While the enhanced role styles are visible on all Discord platforms (desktop, browser, and mobile), the editing and configuration of these styles can only be done on the desktop app or in a web browser.
- Multiple Roles: Once unlocked, you can apply gradient or holographic styles to as many roles as you want in your server without needing additional boosts for each role.
- Visibility: Enhanced Role Styles will appear for members with those roles in chat, the member list, and their profiles.
- Community Enhancement: These visual enhancements can significantly improve the aesthetics and organization of your server, making it more engaging for your community members and helping important roles stand out.
