When the flicker happens:

• Does Task Manager flicker too?
  • Open it with Ctrl + Shift + Esc

This tells us a lot:

• If Task Manager also flickers → likely a graphics driver or system issue
• If Task Manager is stable → usually a problematic app or display setting

1. Restart Windows Explorer

1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
2. Find Windows Explorer
3. Right-click → Restart

2. Update or reinstall graphics drivers

This is the most common fix.

• Press Win + X → Device Manager
• Expand Display adapters
• Right-click your GPU → Update driver

If that doesn’t fix it:

• Go to your GPU manufacturer:
  • NVIDIA
  • AMD
  • Intel
• Download the latest driver manually
• Do a clean install if possible

3. Turn off hardware acceleration (common culprit)

Especially if flicker happens when opening apps like browsers or Discord.

• For apps like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge:
  • Settings → System → turn OFF “Use hardware acceleration”

4. Check display refresh rate

• Settings → System → Display → Advanced display
• Try switching (e.g., 144Hz → 60Hz → back)

5. Disable transparency effects

• Settings → Personalization → Colors
• Turn OFF Transparency effects

6. Check for problematic apps

Some apps are known to cause flicker:

• Discord
• iCloud for Windows
• Certain antivirus tools

 Try uninstalling or updating recently installed apps.

7. Run system repair

Open Command Prompt as admin and run:

 If it still happens

• Try Safe Mode:
  • If flicker stops → software/driver issue
• Try connecting another monitor:
  • If only one screen flickers → hardware/display cable issue.
