Situatie
Discord has a specific feature called Server Tags that allows members to display a 4-character tag from your server directly on their Custom Profile. This is the closest thing to what you’re describing where “people can use my server tag on their name”.
What are Server Tags?
- A Server Tag is a custom, 4-character label paired with an icon.
- It’s displayed on a member’s Custom Profile (not directly in their username like a discriminator used to be).
- It allows members to proudly display a shared identity with your server.
- Server Tags are not unique across Discord; different servers can use the same 4-character tag, but the combination of the tag and its associated icon helps distinguish them.
Solutie
How to unlock a Server Tag for your Server (as a Server Owner/Admin):
- Server Boosts are Required: To unlock a Server Tag for your community, your server needs to use 3 Server Boosts. This is a separate perk from Discord’s traditional Boost Levels, meaning your server doesn’t need to reach a specific Boost Level (like Level 1, 2, or 3) to get this feature. It’s a direct allocation of 3 boosts specifically for the Server Tag.
- Access Server Settings:
- Click on your server’s name in the upper-left corner of the Discord app.
- Select “Server Settings”
- Navigate to Server Tag:
- In the Server Settings menu on the left, you should see an option for “Server Tag” (If you don’t see this, it might mean the feature hasn’t been rolled out to your server yet, as Discord sometimes rolls out features gradually, but it is generally available now).
- Configure Your Server Tag:
- Here you can:
- Set the 4-character Server Tag name (alphanumeric and certain special characters allowed).
- Choose a Badge/Icon to go with the tag.
- Select a Color for the tag.
- Here you can:
- Enable the Perk: You’ll likely see an option to “Enable Perk” or similar, which will consume the 3 Server Boosts.
How Members Apply Your Server Tag to Their Profile:
Once you’ve unlocked and set up the Server Tag for your server, your members can then apply it to their profile:
- Go to User Settings:
- Click the cogwheel icon (⚙️) next to their Discord username in the bottom left to access User Settings.
- Go to Profiles:
- Select “Profiles” or “Edit User Profile”
- Scroll to Server Tag:
- They will need to scroll down until they see the “Server Tag” section.
- Select Your Server’s Tag:
- They can then press “Select” and choose your server’s tag from the available options (which will include any tags from servers they are a member of that have unlocked this feature).
- Their settings will be saved automatically.Important Notes:
- Only One Server Tag at a Time: Users can only display one Server Tag on their profile at a time, even if they are in multiple servers that offer them.
- Color is Server-Set: The color of the Server Tag is set by the server owner/admin and cannot be customized by individual members.
- Removal of Tag: If your server loses the 3 boosts required for the Server Tag perk, the tag will no longer be available for members to wear, and it will be automatically removed from their profiles.
- Changing the Tag: You can change your server’s tag at any time, but members who had the old tag applied will need to manually reapply the new tag to their profiles.
- Visibility: The Server Tag appears on a user’s Custom Profile, which is visible when someone clicks on their profile. It does not append directly to their display name in chat, but rather appears as a dedicated badge on their full profile.
