New to Windows 10, Continuum is a feature that allows the operating system’s interface to switch to Tablet Mode as soon as it detects that the display screen of a touchscreen device such as Microsoft Surface has been detached from its keyboard.
The moment you detach the monitor, Windows 10 displays a message asking to switch to Tablet Mode. When you tap the message, the Start menu appears similar to the one in Windows 8. Also, when Windows 10 enters the Tablet Mode, it switches to Full Screen allowing you to use the device as a full-fledged tablet.Continuum can be configured with more granularity by going to the Tablet Mode section from the SYSTEM window.

Sign-in to your Windows 10 computer.
Click the Start button.
From the left pane of the Start menu, click Settings.
From the SETTINGS window, click System.
Once on the SYSTEM window, from the left pane, click to select Tablet Mode.
From the right pane, enable the Tablet Mode by moving the switch at the top to On.
Close the SYSTEM window and once on the desktop screen, notice that the interface has switched to Full Screen instantaneously, and the Start button no longer works.
From the desktop screen, tap the Menu button (button with three horizontal lines) from the top-left corner and click Settings.
Follow the above process to open the SYSTEM window again and click/tap to select Tablet Mode from the left pane.
You can choose the default behavior of Continuum whenever you sign-in from the When I sign in drop-down list.
From the When my device wants to switch modes drop-down list, you can choose whether you want Windows 10 to ask for your consent before switching to Tablet Mode or back to Windows Mode.
You can also configure if Windows 10 should display the taskbar icons when in Tablet Mode by moving the button at the bottom to Off.
Note: By default this option is enabled.
Once you have configured the Continuum settings as desired, close the window and continue using Windows 10 normally.
