Non-functional “usb” headphones *in certain ports

Rezolvare problema (Fix IT)

Situatie

In some situations we will notice with a new pair of headphones with a “USB connector” that they are non-functional (in certain USB ports).

Solutie

Headphones can either use the USB interface/connection directly or they can have an included USB to jack (digital/analog) audio converter (basically, a sound card). For these devices we can attempt the following:

1) Connecting to another USB port on the laptop (due to the limitation of certain ports according to the design of the laptop/integrated motherboards/USB controllers)

2) Connecting to a USB port directly located on the motherboard (to avoid using the front connectors on the case)

3) Disconnecting other USB peripherals that share the respective USB connectors or controller

4) Avoiding using a USB extension cable

5) Avoiding using a USB hub (passive hub, while active USB hubs / with separate power supply included can be purchased)

6) Using additional adapters/converters such as USB-C (M) to USB-A (F) (or in extreme cases dedicated PCI-E cards with USB (possibly using an m.2 nvme to pcie adapter)).
