AutoMod is a valuable tool for Discord servers because it significantly enhances moderation efforts and improves the overall server experience.

To set up AutoMod on your Discord server, you’ll need to enable Community features and then configure the AutoMod settings.

1. Enable Community Features

  • Navigate to your server’s Server Settings
  • Go to the Community tab
  • Click Enable Community
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your community guidelines and other required information.

2. Access AutoMod Settings

  • Once Community features are enabled, you’ll find the AutoMod tab within your server’s Server Settings.


3. Configure AutoMod Rules

  • Commonly Flagged Words: AutoMod provides a list of commonly flagged words. You can enable or disable these
    • Choose your words: Enter the words or phrases you want to block.
    • Choose a response: Select an action for AutoMod to take when a message containing the keyword is detected (e.g., block the message, send an alert, disable user access).   
    • Exemptions: Specify roles or channels where the rule should not apply.Custom Keyword Filters: Create your own filters to detect and block specific words, phrases, or characters.

4. Additional AutoMod Features

  • Block Spam Content: Configure filters to detect and block potential spam messages.   
  • Block Mention Spam: Set limits on the number of mentions allowed in a single message to prevent excessive tagging.   

Important Notes:

  • Community Guidelines: Make sure your community guidelines are clear and concise, outlining the rules and expectations for server members.
  • Testing: Test your AutoMod rules thoroughly to ensure they are working as intended and not blocking legitimate messages.
