Situatie
If we need to play arbitrary media (audio/video) files from an external storage on a monitor/TV connected to a device with the Android TV operating system on an infinite loop, you will most likely notice that this feature only works temporarily (on the order of several hours). For long periods, some specific settings or the use of third-party applications is required.
Solutie
Using the remote control (or other devices available for input), we will go to the main menu/Home, then to Settings (wheel/gear icon). In these menus we will find Special app access, more precisely the Energy Optimization section, where we will look for the Media Player and Gallery applications to disable this feature. Additionally, optimizations can be disabled for several other features such as “device storage” or “audio” to guarantee the absence of interruptions caused by the power savings system.
If this solution and third-party applications do not fix the interruptions (or if we encounter the automatic start of the default screensaver), it is possible that the storage medium is too slow (for its read/write speeds) or even corrupted – the corruption situation can be observed from the file preview (thumbnails) of the integrated Gallery application, which displays “halves” of icons instead of the entire image.
When trying to format the USB stick or storage medium, at least in Windows, you will also notice that Windows will detect errors with it, by automatically presenting the fix prompt – if the fix does not repair the corruption, most likely no reformatting tool will do it and it is necessary to directly replace the external storage medium.
