Review Ideapad Slim 3

Key Specifications (for the Ryzen 7 5825U version):

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5825U — 8 cores / 16 threads, base ~2.0GHz, boost up to ~4.5GHz.
  • Graphics: Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics (in the SoC) — it’s not a dedicated GPU.
  • Memory: 16 GB (DDR4-3200) (soldered, no extra slot in some configs)
  • Storage: 512 GB SSD (M.2 NVMe) in many builds. Some mention 500 GB/512 GB.
  • Display: 15.6″ Full HD (1920×1080) IPS (depending on panel) in many variants. Connectivity & ports: WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI etc per spec sheet.
  • Battery / design: 47Wh battery in one spec sheet, “portable” weight around ~1.3–1.7 kg depending version.

Why it’s a strong buy:

  • The Ryzen 7 5825U is a very capable CPU for everyday productivity (office apps, multitasking, browser with many tabs), light photo/video editing, coding, etc.
  • 16 GB RAM + a 512 GB SSD is a solid spec for most users today — future-proofing for 3-5 years.
  • Full HD 15.6″ is a sweet spot: big enough screen, decent resolution.

Where the “cheap” caveats come in / what to check:

  • Build quality: On a budget laptop you may get more plastic chassis, less premium materials, weaker hinge strength or thinner cooling.
  • Display quality: Even though it’s Full HD, details such as brightness, colour gamut, contrast may be weaker than higher-end laptops. If you do professional photo/video work, this might be a limitation.
  • Graphics: Because it uses integrated graphics only, gaming or 3D-heavy workloads will be limited. If you want a gaming machine or heavy GPU compute, you might need a dedicated GPU model.
  • Upgradability: Some specs sheets show that memory is soldered (no slot) in certain models — meaning future RAM upgrade may not be possible. From spec sheet: “Max memory — 16GB soldered memory, not upgradable.”
  • Thermals and loud-fan/noise under heavy load may be a factor for “cheap” laptops.
